Expert advice please: Want to stop treatment 12 days in, chance of successful eradication

Post by ari »

Hello,

I was originally on the standard Prevpac treatment but about 10 days in started having an allergic reaction to one of the medications.
I was switched to 2 new antibiotics since they weren’t sure which one was causing my allergy.
The new antibiotics include tetrocyclin and I think the side effects I’m getting from this medication specifically are causing me a lot of distress.

Today would be my 13:14th day of treatment and I would really like to stop taking the antibiotics since the side effects are hard for me to deal with.
With this in mind, what would be the chance of success for complete eradication of the h pylori if I decided to stop today?
These new medications are really messing me up and I know I’m close to being done but I’d really like to stop now.

we normally only give 10 days treatment. so 14 days is already very good. Rest well now. drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits. Looking forward to hearing your follow up breath test result in 1 month time.

Hi everyone

I was tested H pylori on January and was positive.
I was given polytrip for 14 days, then Omeprazole 20g twice a day for one month of which am using it now.
Still I have stomach pain, upper and lower parts, not much though.
I also feel nausea in the morning which makes me vomit.
I don't know what to do.

Note : am Habitatis b carrier for quite some time but never had any problem before this bacteria.
2. Can I use omeprazole 20g with Mastic gum capsules 500g?

Hi,

H. pylori can only be eradicated via at least 2 antibiotics and a PPI. Your current treatment is probably good enough to control the symptom but not strong enough get rid of the root of the problem.

Mastic gum and Omeprazole are fine. But they do not eradicate H. pylori. Please speak to your doctor about triple therapy if you havent had one.
