When to see a doctor ?

Post by shid0x »

Okay so here is my story :

Got Gastritis a year ago, doctor ran some test and determined it was a H.Pilory infection ( I had 80 unit at the breath test )
After a course of antibiotics i was still positive but just above the negative limit ( negative limit was 5 unit and i had like 10 units ) so the doc told me to wait and see.

I then went away from my home to travel, about 3 months later i went to a doctor in thailand because i had pain after greasy food. He told me that it really looked like H.Pilory infection again, I re-did a new breath test which was again positive and was prescribed new antibiotics...The bad thing is i got food poisoned and couldn't finish the course ( well i did but it was cut in half ) months have passed and i was somehow stable but my stomach FLARED UP about a week ago.

I'm back in my home country ( where i have universal healthcare ) in about a month (well exactly a month from now tbh ).
Is it worth it to go to the doctor and get ( probably ) yet ANOTHER breath test and some antibiotics ( probably will push on pylera as it seems to work well ) and paying some more cash ( i'm in japan and i have no clues about the costs ) or wait a month and just go to my home country (france) doc ?

What do you think ? I'm hesitant.

I think you probably just need to control your symptoms with PPI or H2 blocker until you are settle down, less travelling. Then the same doctor can assess your problem carefully.

Nevertheless, if money is not a problem, Japan has very good H. pylori studies. You'll are likely to find very good specialist who is able to do antibiotic sensitivity testing on your strain to eradicate your strain once and for all.

This seems to be the more reasonable decision, i mean i'm no specialist but i'm pretty sure that nothing too dangerous can happen in a month.
I think i'm gonna try 20mg of eomeprazole in the morning and a banana at diner until i get home.

Its just so frustrating.

yea... but, it's important to keep a positive mind. Usually the more you think about it, the more symptoms you experience.

if 20mg not working, you can try 40mg.

meanwhile, enjoy your trip in Japan
