Post Pylera Treatments .. Acid Blockers ..Probiotics ?

The most popular treatments consist of two antibiotics (one of which is usually clarithromycin) plus a strong acid blocker such as omeprazole (PriLosec, Nexium, Somac, Zoton, etc.). Treatment is for 7-10 days. Cure rate is about 85%

There is no guideline to what to take after finishing H. pylori treatment. There is no need to continue omeprazole unless you were diagnosed with ulcer, you'll need to continue PPI for a month until it's heal. Or, for patients with reflux, they have to continue PPI until they feel better.

I am glad to hear you feeling better. However, you have to confirm the eradication with breath test.

Talk to your GP. He would prescribe you necessary PPI and advise you when to stop for breath test.

Ulcer will take time to heal. At-least few months. Did you stop PPI for at-least 1 week prior to the stool test? If NO, then that can be a false negative. Before the follow-up test (either Breath or Stool), the PPI has to be stopped for a period of at-least 1 week (better if it is 2 weeks)

Since you have an ulcer you are better of taking the PPI for atleast 3 months to 6 months. Talk to your Doctor about it.

Whether to take once or twice depends on how bad the reflux is. Usually one should be good enough.

Since you have an ulcer watch what you eat, so that you wouldn't irritate it.

Take some pro-biotics (if you are not allergic to dairy) like yogurt, kiefer. Or you can also take pro-biotic pills.

Finally stool test is good but Breath Test is the best.

You can if you feel that it helps. by the way, it doesnt coat your throat. It blocks acid. PPI is afterall very safe drug. Nevertheless, your family doctor should know you better. It's always good to get his opinion in your case.

I have answered this in other post. I would wait a few more days before seeing a doctor about it.
