Mild chronic inactive gastritis

Post by new_guy »

I once had an endoscopy done 6 years ago and it showed chronic inactive gastritis and almost 5 years before that I was treated for H.Pylori gastritis. Does it indicate a successful eradication or does it mean H pylori probably wasn't eradicated. Because right now I'm again on H pylori treatment for mild gastritis and duodenitis and am taking the same antibiotice amox and clarith and Aciphex as I did 11 years ago and don't want any resistance here.

without the previous bacterial culture, it is impossible to tell if you had been reinfected by a new strain or the previous treatment failed. Therefore, it is important to check the eradication of H. pylori via breath test.

if you already started the current treatment, make sure you finish it. wait 4 weeks and do a breath test to check. if H pylori still around, then you'll need to find rescue therapy or personalise therapy.

Also I forgot to mention back in 2011 I had another endoscopy done and had erosive gastritis and bile. Each of my endoscopies always show negative H pylori but each time I was on PPIs and H2 Blockers for my laryngopharyngeol reflux so I'm aware of the false negative possibility. I certainly wanna do the breath test but I know I have to be off PPIs and H2 Blockers for 2 weeks and I'm very scared to get off them because once I got off them for 3 weeks and my throat got really bad and it took a long time to heal. My throat is at 90-95% with medications. This is why I'm stressing because I'm in such a dilemma. It's all because of my PPI use I can't get to the bottom of this problem whether I have H Pylori or not. I been thinking maybe the doc should've prescribed me metrozinadole instead of clarithromycin.

If your specialist try hard enough, he'll be able to find DNA test or bacterial culture to see if you are still infected with H. pylori.

He really doesn't care in fact it's hard to find caring docs unfortunately. After the endoscopy he had his nurse tell me everything is fine just mild gastritis etc. and go home. Well that doesn't help me relieving my chronic nausea burping and loss of appetite. So I went to my family doc and ran a blood test to show I'm positive. Although it may be a false positive since I did I strongly assume eradicate the bacteria in 2003. And then I called my GI and he put me on antibiotics.
