Please help with question

Post by nnj925 »

I am scheduled for an endoscopy on Oct 10, I have been almost 4 weeks already with out taking any Pepto bismol or nexium as I know it can produce a negative test result for h pylori. However today I was prescribed an antibiotic by my gynocologist...and I do not know if it will effect the h pylori if I take it....do certain anti biotics do that???

it is likely that the antibiotic you are taking will have some effect on H. pylori.

you said you have stopped your medication for 4 weeks, have you had breath test before? if no, i suggest you get one before the endoscope.

or else, i suggest you reschedule your endoscope, finish your gynoco treatment, then go back to endoscope.

the H. pylori infection is very chronic. you have waited so long, i think you can wait for another one month.
