Elevated Carbon Monoxitde in blood related to HP?

I had several blood tests while diagnosed with HP and my Carboxyhemoglobin levels have constantly been elevated between 3-5% and I am a non smoker. Can this be related to HP overgrowth? I have carried the CO detector everywhere with me for weeks and it never went off.

I also read that HP breath test is based on CO levels produced by HP in stomach, is that true? What if my HP test is false positive and I am actually suffering from CO exposure and not HP?

H. pylori breaks down Urea to give CO2 and NH3.

However, there is no way you can differentiate the amount of CO2 generated by the organism or by yourself.

in breath test, we give patients to swallow a special Urea bill labelled with very small quantity of radioactive material. So when that urea is broken down by H. pylori, the CO2 is radioactive labelled. So when you breath that out, We'll be able to quantify the amount of CO2 created by H. pylori.

I dont think H. pylori correlates to your body CO2 level.

Congratulation! free of H. pylori now. Hopefully you can still hop in from time to time to share you after treatment experience with everyone else. Your success is another encouragement for all members here.
