Hi, there are two questions here:
1. Symptoms of something in the throat or chest: It s hard to see how Helicobacter in the stomach could cause that. However somthing like a hiatus hernia or altered stomach motility could be a related cause. But if the surgeon did not test for helicobacter it is a simple thing to have a breath test or, less accurately, a blood test, to see if it might be implicated. Ask your GP. If a polyp was biopsied it might not be a good test for Hp. Special biopsies need to be taken just for that.
2. About 50% of Thai people already have H.pylori so new infection and exisiting infection are both posibilities. Once again, testing can sort that out. Check out our FAQ lists here: Diagnosis FAQ
