Sympthoms after treatment, how long should it last?

Dear All,

I am from Hungary, so sorry for my poor english. I need some help... My doc not really cares for my illness.
My story:
27 years old athletic male, 182 cm/82 kgs
Nearly 2 months ago, after a rowing workout I started feel a strange, mild, dull, pressure pain exactly at my epigastrium. I thought it must be some muscle injury, so I stopped working out. After like 1 week, the pain still was there. Not unbearable, but very frustrating. I went to doc. He said it must be some muscle injury, rest and ice it... Okay, 2 other weeks past, the pain was still there and a new sympthom appeared: not often, but sometimes I felt some acid in my throat - and that time the pain from my epigastrium disappeared almost completly.
Back to doc. He sent me to UBT. No wonder -POSITIVE. Started the treatment ( clarythromicyn, amoxicillin, ezomeprazole for 14 days). It vas horrible. Lack of energy, lack of sleep, high heart rate, ventricular extrasystoles, anxiety... but I finished the treatment last friday. Fortunatelly the side effect almost went, some extrabeats left, but I hope it will be completly over in a while. I lost like 10 kgs in this 2 months.
However my first and main sympthom ( epigastrial dull, pain, thightness) is still presents and it is worse I think. Now my stomach started to burn like hell, sometimes behind sternum as well. Went back to doc, he does not really care, sent me to x-ray and endoscopy (still in progress)
I am very disappointed and desperate. I thought it should be better after treatment, but it got worse. What do you think, how long will it last? What should I do? I really want to live my life again.
Thank you for your help, I really need it!
Peter

Most important is to make sure that the bacteria, H. pylori, is no longer present in your stomach.

You finished the antibiotics course, it doesnt mean the treatment is successful. You need to repeat the UBT. Endoscopy is fine too. But make sure the doctor do a Rapid Urease test and collect at least 1 biopsy for histology. These two tests will tell us if your H. pylori is still present.

if the tests came back negative, meaning you are now free of H.pylori, then you just need to take it easy and give it time to heal. You are still young, the recovery is promising.

Thank you for your words! Now Im heading to x-ray to rule out hiatal hernia. Unfortunatelly I have to wait for endoscopy more than a month... I hope the sympthoms will improve significantly in this time.
The treatment was so drastic, long and brutal I hope no bacteria survieved. We will see...

You can repeat the UBT in 2 weeks time if you want to get a quick answer.
but make sure you stop all PPI and antibiotics for at least 2 weeks before the UBT.

Thank you! X-ray negative for hernia, thanks God. The epigastric pain is a little bit less I think. I hope it will be better day by day. Can’t wait for next UBT. I want to be over this horror at last.

Thank you for your help! Unfortunatelly my epigastric region still hurts. This dull, pressing pain makes me crazy... It feels like it irritates every single organ in my body, heart, lungs... terrible. 1 week passed after treatment but I dont see significal improvement. I might have ulcer(s) I dont know... now I really start to lose my patience and faith. Tomorrow I am heading to cardiologist to examinate extrabeats.
I hope some improvement will appear in the next days.
Thanks for your help again!

Sometimes, when there is an infection, the lymph is swollen and can cause some dull pain. Hopefully that's what causes your pain and will go away after the inflammation subsided.

Might be... however I think it is related to what is in the stomach or the mucos' damage. My biggest problem now, that I am not able to bleach (I could never in my life) however I have lot of gas in my stomach. So it might can cause (of course beside the mucos damage or ulcers, because before this I was bloated several times, but without pain) this epigastrial pressure, dull pain I think. Once I felt acid in my throat coming from my stomach, 1-2 sec later the epigastric pain gone... Strange, but this why I think there is a relation.
I am always wondering what else could cause these symthoms (I learnt a little ER and rescue medics at police and army, so I am interested in this subject) My liver, kidney functions are good according to blood test, I never drink alcohol or use drugs, neither smoke, live a very active life, daily workouts. I have no risk factors. That's why I hope and think h. pylori is the number one suspect in my case.
This little conversation gives me some power to fight, thank you very much!
