Hello,
1st and foremost thank you for this forum/page. I can't seem to find much online. This stomach problems is all new to me.

It all started on April 24, 2018 with waking up at 3am with non stop throwing up, diarrhea, and unbearable stomach pain/cramps.
It lasted for 2 days....i literally wanted to sleep in the bathroom. i thought it must have been something I ate. From that date to finally going to the my family doctor on May 8, 2018 i had non stop nausea, throwing up, feeling full, extremely fatigue, lost 17 lbs in nearly 3 weeks, & i looked 4 months pregnant when i did feel good enough to eat. I couldn't even keep any liquids down. I am miserable!

Long story short:
(Between May 8 - June 15) - SICK SICK SICK
family dr did catscan, lots of blood work - etc....then he sent me to my gyno, he said it must be something with my female parts. Duh, i had a partial hysterectomy 4 years ago....anyway, i went to my gyno who sent me for more blood work, pap smear & mammogram, all good, only vitamin D deficiency was detected.
Told me to take OT vitamins and that was it. June 15 my family doctor finally referred me to a Gastroentrologist after i went back to him saying nothing has helped, all test have been good but im still losing weight, not eating, nausea & still throwing up.

(June 21, 2018) -My 1st appt with Gastro dr
. He told me my symptoms were most likely acid reflex. Told him i have no heartburn & that i knew it was not that. He knew i wasnt happy with his diagnosed. He then set me up for a stool test and endoscopy the following week.

(June 25, 2018) - Endoscopy
i was sedated. Once i woke up dr. said i had a Non-bleeding peptic ulcer, biopsied. Normal second portion of the duodenum, biopsied.

(June 29, 2018)- The call with results
Got the call from Gastro dr. He wanted to see me Monday, July 2nd to go over biopsy results.

(July 2, 2018) - H. Pylori Positive
Went in to get results.....positive for H. pylori. to be honest wtih you i had never heard of this, so didn't really ask much questions about it. All i remember hearing was"im concerned about stomach cancer since you already have an ulcer". Then he went on to tell me the triple therapy meds i had to take & scheduled me for a MRI & Colonscopy. Not until i went home and did research i realized that H. Pylori is a serious condition.

My 2 week regimen:
Metronidazol 500mg - 1pill 3 x a day
Clarithromyc 500mg - 1pills 2 x a day
Omeprazole 10mg - 2pills 2 x a day

(July 4- 5, 2018) - Fasting and Colonscopy
So much for my 4th of July celebration, no barbeque for me since i had to fast all day  ,
July 5th, had my colonscopy, sedated so i didn't feel a thing. Woke up with the doctor telling me that there was
1 polyp, removed with hot snare, resected and retrieved.
Anal papilla(e) biopsied & internal hemorrhoids.

(July 9, 2018) -3rd day of my triple therapy
My stomach is on fire! Can't eat much cause of the pain and just no appetite.

July 12, 2018 - pelvis and stomach MRI scheduled

Questions:
Could the pain on the 3rd day be cause of the antibiotics and the ppi?
does h.pylori go into your colon as well?
i have an ulcer does that mean the H. Pylori bacteria caused it or will make it worse?
Since i have an ulcer does that mean stomach cancer is the next thing?

Thank you so much for your time.
Like i said i am totally new to all this - and sooo CONFUSED!!!

First of all, patients with duodenal ulcers are less likely to get stomach cancer. So your doctor needs an update on that.

Then, it's important to follow the medication instruction and finish up the antibiotics to prevent resistance. Are you allergic to Penicillin? it's a good antibiotic that H. pylori cannot become resistant to and the doctor did not prescribe it to you.

The pain is normally because of the stomach acid touching the ulcer. The PPI should reduce the acid level and relieve the pain. You can try double the dose of omeprazole and see if it improves the condition.

H. pylori can only colonise in the stomach. However, it's hypothesized that the toxin may leaked into the intestinal system; the inflammation may affect other body parts other than the stomach; and there may be other species of Helicobacter living in the intestines.

Good Morning,
Thank you for your quick response. Yes, ive been allergic to penicillin since i was a child.

For the first time yesterday, i got this horrendous taste in my mouth. it was pretty gross. i drank lots of water to make it go away but finally had to rinse my mouth with mouthwash. Which meds is causing this?

It also looks like i may be getting thrush, my tongue has a white thick coding over it.
Is this also one of the medication side effect?

Thanks again!

The "metallic" taste is most probably Clarithromycin. If you have thrush, you can see your doctor and take anti-fungal in the same time.

Hi,
First of all sorry that that you are going through this much. I want to tell you the pain is because of antibiotics. I had h pylori treatment and when I started taking medicine I felt worst pain in my stomach. Still I suggest complete your antibiotics treatment and have patience and positive thinking

The dr. prescribed me:
Omeprazole 10mg, 1 x a day
Tetracycline 500mg 4 times a day
Metronidazol 250mg 4 times a day

Been taking bentyl (4 times a day) since 2 weeks ago
I also started taking probiotics 30million ultimate flora.

Are these meds ok?
Why is it called quadruple therapy?

Quadruple therapy is usually meant PPI + 3 antibiotics

It seems like you are given the triple therapy.

You can ask your doctor about adding bismuth in your treatment to make it a proper quadruple therapy.

Just called my dr. He said he did prescribe bismuth also but apparently my pharmacist didnt get the prescription.
They resubmitted it and for me to continue without until they are ready later today for pick up.
