Thank you for sharing, David. It's amazing in the U.S. how many suffer from this. I have looked into natural remedies to avoid recontamination but unfortunately I don't think its good enough for fil eradication of the bacteria. They hide and hide well in the lining of the stomach and are covered by protective mucous... STUBBORN! Also others in the household should be tested to avoid facing decontamination. Both my husband and myself have it.
I totally understand your apprehension with Round 2 but for me, I think it is necessary. The longer the bacteria sits the more damage so im giving the PYLERA a shot.. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress. Good luck on the unpleasant journey we are on!!

by the way, PYLERA is a combination of common antibiotics. So people are actually paying the extra for the convenience by taking one tablet. If you think it's too expensive, you can always ask the doctor or pharmacy to prescribe the individual component of PYLERA, which can be a lot cheaper.

Yes.. good point. In my instance PYLERA was cheaper at $25 treatment suppy versus the individual treatment pills at $70. .. depends on insurance.

I have a similar story, I am also in the US. Eight years ago I was having stomach pain and esophagus pain, was sent by my GP for endoscopy which showed nothing, and CAT scan of my esophagus, which also showed nothing. They put me on acid blockers, and I was miserable. Then had the fortune to meet a nutritionist who ran my blood and she thought I had Hpylori. She sent me back to the GP for a breath test which was positive. Then I went on bio HPF for two months and also added stomach Acid (hcl ) into my daily routine. I was great for five years. Have had a resurgence and I’m having the hardest time getting anyone to take me seriously even though I’ve already had this infection. My GP refused to do a breath test, the integrative doctor told me it was Candida, my nutritionist ran my blood work and the infection markers didn’t look as high and the inflammation wasn’t as high ( I had been treating with natural treatment for three months for Candida and a lot of those treatments work on Hpylori. Finally found a functional doctor who did test me recently with breath test but it was negative. I think it was negative because I was taking Bio HPF again ( as I’ve had to treat myself, and I have had improvement). So now she will test me again after I went in and explained again how I have already had Hpylori and it’s always in your system, but have to keep it in check. I am wondering if anyone knows what natural treatments you need to stop taking and for how long to get a valid result. She also wants me to get an endoscopy , because I feel like at this point I have ulcers, I’m not sure if that’s necessary or not because to get rid of the ulcers you have to get rid of the Hpylori.

I have no experience with Bio HPF. but looking at the website, it contains Bismuth subcitrate. It's one of the commonly used drug we prescribed to kill H. pylori.

To get a proper breath test, you'll need to stop Bio HPF and any other acid blockers for a month. Then you can get a reliable breath test result.

Thanks for that. I haven’t been able to find anything on how bio hpf affects the breath test. It also contains mastic gum which kills it. Would I be able to take a blood test without stopping?

I haven’t seen anyone talk about taking hydrocloic acid here. From my experience the cause is low stomach acid. Most people have enough to keep bacteria in check. I think i relapsed because I had quit taking it at ever meal and was only taking at breakfast.

I quit for a while because of what feels like ulcers but have been adding it back as I feel better and feeling even better since then.

Blood test tells you your antibody against H. pylori. Once infected, you'll have anti-HP antibody for a long time. Even after eradication, your antibody will still be positive. Studies have shown that the antibody can stay in your body for years.

Some people suggests that you can compare the concentration of anti-HP antibody. if it is gradually reducing, then it's an indication that it's gone. But you'll have to do probably a blood test every 2-3 months and monitor the anti-HP antibody concentration.

in regards to HCl, most people here suffer from having too much acid. So they have to take PPI to reduce acid. very little suffer from low acid. then again, low acid producer normally dont have symptoms. because it is usually the acid that causes ulcers and reflux. In addition, low acid patients are in the high risk group of gastric cancer.

it is weird that HP is not checked in a developed country like US. Perhaps HP is so rare now in the US, the new doctors are all inexperienced how to treat it.

I strongly agree that you need a follow up breath test to find out if you have H. pylori.

I also agree that Pylera is expensive. Perhaps you can ask your pharmacist to give you individual component of pylera. That will bring down the cost dramatically.
Hey I want to know something. I am done with antibiotic for h pylori but still have stomach pain and acidity. My Dr suggested again antibiotics with some extra doses. Clan anyone please help me in telling does such a high dose antibiotics have side effects on our body?

Hopefully helico_expert will answer. I'm currently on round 2 of heavy duty antibiotics and am interested in the response.

Have you been retested for H. pylori? You should only be given antibiotics when there is H. pylori.
