thanks for sharing this important story. who would have thought, a developed city, like Chicago, would ignored something so important, H. pylori. Wasted so many other unnecessary tests. Do update us your Pylera treatment outcome.

Once it is fully eradicated, YES it is very realistic to expect a normal life free of that discomfort. Gastritis or inflammation of the stomach lining is irreversible from what I understand, which is why it is so important to address as early as possible.
The longer it goes untreated, the more likely it will cause damage like ulcers, gastritis, etc. Depending on what effects it has had and how long it went untreated will determine how you move forward. My endoscopy showed gastritis but NO ULCERS.
Once i get to the point of being fully eradicated meaning a true negative test and no symptoms, i imagine it will be back to business as usual:)

Hi,
I am going through same hunger pain you are saying. I had my h pylori treatment few days back still m feeling sever hunger pain all time. Even after eating taking meal I started feeling pain in my stomach. After 1 or 2 hour again started feeling pain. I am just fed up with my life. Its sucking me.i am living in India but m surprised that a developing country like US has no treatment of that h pylori.

Hi ,
I am off of my second round of treatment (quadruple therapy) for almost two months and I am experiencing the same symptoms. I feel hungry right after eating. I do not have pain but feeling empty stomach. I am on PANTOPRAZOLE for a month now but have not seen much improvement. I have not done the second round of test yet but not sure if it still is positive, what else I can do!!!

You need to do another breath test to find out if you still have H. pylori.

Hi lisaron34, thanks for sharing what you’ve been through. I find it so strange that in the US we have to really fight hard with (some of our) doctors so they will hear and understand us. Yes, I had terrible anxiety, but it was a result of my stomach pain and cramping going untreated! I had to be the one to call my GP and ask for a blood test for h. pylori (I’d feel terrible when I’d go off of my PPI), because no one believed my symptoms matched! I had to go through an online service to set up my own breath test because my provider doesn’t do it. It’s maddening!

How great you can take Pylera! It seems that will be a lot more convenient to take vs each component separately, like I had to do. When I was told the cost by my pharmacist, I think it was over $1000 and they didn’t even have it in stock at the time. I pray it will work for you. I think the lesson we’re all learning is that we need to stay on top of our own healthcare. If doctors aren’t listening, keep on pushing them to give you answers; if they still aren’t listening then it’s time to find a doctor who will.

So sorry that anxiety was added to the burden of H Pylori. But I totally understood. For me. I have felt more of the blues, depressed because of the bloating and discomfort. Clothes don't fit, I look swollen.. brought my spirits down. But the mind is directly linked to the stomach. So anxiety a d depression only hasten our problem. And believe it or not the pylera was less expensive than the doctor prescribing the medications separately piylera was $25 versus individual antibiotics at $70 either way I know I am fortunate to have great insurance.
I hope you are finding some relief I'm reading the replies from my phone so it's not always clear who the message is sent from but as you said the most important message to take away from this is to stay persistent share information and hope all will fall into place.

I too have recently been diagnosed with H.P. and the journey so far has been an awful one. I am male age 68 and was in really great shape playing tennis two to three time a week. Weighed about 170 lbs....lost 15 lbs in the last 6 months.I believe my story started off in December 2017. I got up in the morning believing I was having a stroke. One side of my face was swollen and when I tested my blood pressure it was 195/100. So my wife rushed me down to Emergency and they ran all the necessary tests on me only to conclude that I was having an allergic reaction to some food.....I have no allergies or have never experienced any allergic reactions before. I have mild hypertension and was taking a small dose of Atacand Plus.8mg. So I was placed on Allegra and discharged...a few days later the facial swelling returned but this time on the other side of my face. After a month I decided to go and do a full load of medical tests on my own.....Bloods, Echocardiogram, Abdominal Echos,Thyroids Ultrasounds, a visit to Cardiologist . I even visited a dentist to check my root canals for leaks as I was having jaw pains. All reports came back negative. However, my white Cell Count was high but they interpreted this to be my system fighting some Bronchitis that I had before the tests.

It was not until about April 2018 that my stomach started to act up. I had just completed a round of antibiotics and steroids for the Bronchitis. I visited the GP who believed that I had Gastritis and treated me with Zantac. I did get very slight relief but everyday after the initial visit to her, there was a constant burning in my stomach, so after two weeks she referred me to a Gastroenterologist specialist to be to be scoped.

Low and behold I was diagnosed with generalised mild gastritis and tested positive for HP. and was put on a first line therapy of Pantopral 80mg, Amoxicillin 1000 mg, Levofloxacin 500 mg these were divided in two and taken AM and PM. Last Friday 13 July 2018 was 8 weeks since the therapy started and so I did the Helic Ammonia Breath Test.....and the results were very disappointing....I was still POSITIVE....Base length was 5.2mm and Load Length 13.9mm.
I am not surprised though as the symptoms during the 8 weeks since starting the therapy never went away....dizzy spells, upset horrible feelings, very low energy level, joint pains, constipation, brain fog, abdomen always uncomfortable, constant urination....horrible depressing moods....I am usually a very happy pleasant person to be around. Thank God though I do have a good 8 hours sleep. I have modified my diet and have gone sugar free, gluten free and Low FODMAP have been taking Mastic Gum, probiotics and have even made my own sauerkraut...following most of the herbal interventions.
I am now awaiting a call from the GE doctor to consult around what's next.....my wife and I are very skeptical about going on a second round of antibiotics treatment.
Will keep you posted as I have found this forum very encouraging and I will like to part of the future.
David
