h pylori has got the better of me!!!

Post by aimeewhippet »

Hi.

I have been ill from around jan this yr with the stomach cramps, vomiting, lack of appetite etc we all know what its like. I was diagnosed with h pylori in may and took the triple therapy never felt so bad in all my life!!! And I had to take my uni exams a week after, talk about bad timing!!
After that I've struggled with lots of other symptoms!! Fatigue, sickness, IBS, low mood etc but the worse is my ears which the drs have said is euchstation tube dysfunction. I have now had blocked ears for six months and its not letting up. I've read academic paper on links between ottis media, gerd and h pylori and I would like to know if it is possible to have h pylori in your inner ears and how the hell I can fix it. Its driving me up the wall.

I'd also like to thank the people who run this site as when I was really ill (thought I was on my death bed) the website really helped.

So if anyone can help me with my ears pls reply here or e mail me aimeeshaw@hotmail.com

Thanks

Aimee

Hi Aimee,

I'm sorry to hear about this. I am afraid I have never heard about H.pylori living in ears. H.pylori is very specific to the stomach but I will ask Porf. Marshall what he thinks about your story. Have you tried to seek advice from a different doctor or a specialist? It is very likely that your ear problems are not related to H.pylori so you'll have to investigate.
Good luck

Thanks for your reply.

I have read a few papers about the possibility of h pylori being found in the inner ear and traveling up through acid reflux. This even sounds as bit crazy to me but I'm just trying to explore all avenues.

Thanks

Aimee

Hi Aimee,

I have been searching the Internet and I'm glad that i came by your post. I have been suffering from the same symptoms you mentioned and i am now on 3 different types of antibiotics.

I have been also suffering from my ears being blocked most of the time since i had the symptoms.

I know you have posted your post around 5 years ago but i was hoping that you get this message and let me know if your ear blockage got better (and the other symptoms) disappeared after the treatment?

Hello, I am so glad I’ve found this page! I am suffering some similar symptoms to people on this forum and am having no luck at the doctors, any advice would be great and will put me at ease.

I have been suffering from what I believe silent reflux for a number of months, I experience all the symptoms (horseness, throat ‘lump’, fatigue and been having extreme migraines. I’ve recently began to feel worse, I feel almost out of it as if I have a bit of brain fog, alongside head heaviness and ear fullness. My vertigo has got so bad I can’t even get out of bed without wanting to throw up, I have sent off a stool test for H.plyori.

My question is wether H.plyori can cause ear problems and vertigo? My doctor looked into my ears and assured me genes no infection so I cannot explain why my ears, and jaw have gone puffy from inflammation. I also have been having frequent burping, and upper abdominal pain.

Does h.plyori sounds like the issue here? And most of all am I going mad or is this similar to what others have been experiencing.

- I am currently on Prilosec and doctors have given me stemisil for my vertigo.

Thank you for your time

It's unlikely that H. pylori can cause ear infection. H. pylori only colonise in the stomach.
