I was recently diagnosed with H. Pylori in June and went on triple therapy in July. It failed cause of the severe symptoms I was getting and had to stop. After that I was referred to a GI doctor that scoped me and confirmed that I had it then he prescribed me Pylera. I'm on day 9 out of 10 currently and I'm anxious I'll get rid of it but my family members might infect me again. My sister is having stomach cramps and diarrhea but keeps putting off the doctor even though I told her it might be what I had. I can't go through antibiotics again :( what should I do? Can a host without symptoms infect me again?

it is not easy to get reinfected again if you look after your personal hygiene well.

all you need to to do is to avoid sharing food and constantly washing your hands and mouth (your family members too). We have seen so many cases where married couple (more than 10 yrs), never infect the partner.

That's good to hear. Another question I took the antibiotics this morning a little late as I have to prepare food, take anti nausea meds, etc and forgot to take the acid blocker which I took a hour later is this bad?

that would be ok. no harm done. The PPI usually has long life in the body.

Iam in this same situation, wife was diagnosed via stool and is positive. She was given medication which she refused to take as she has no symptoms. Iam in the battle alone now. I’ve not kissed for 2 months now as Iam on and off treatment unsuccessfuly for 2 years now and fear adding new doses of the bacteria. Any help here?

you'll need to find a good specialist who knows how to deal with resistant H. pylori.

Finished the treatment had to skip a dose because doctor told me too as I was getting Periphial neuropathy symptoms the last 2-3 days. One more question is there any chance of reinfection from my own mouth even if I brushed my teeth twice a day? I had to avoid products like mouthwash because of Pylera I was on said alcohol products may interact with drug.

some scientist proposed that the mouth cavity could be source of re-infection of the stomach. I dont believe it. When you take antibiotics, it goes into your blood stream and travel everywhere, including the mouth. Every bacteria will be killed. So if you are tested negative of H. pylori, you dont need to worry about reinfection from mouth. true reinfection from another person is rare if you look after your personal hygiene well.

Finished treatment a week before I went on a family vacation (cruise) only to find out I get sea sick  anyway I recently had a breath test done and it came back negative. I'm worried it's a false positive because its only been 2 weeks and 2 days since I stopped PPI and antibiotics. Should I be worried :?:
