relapse? negative blood/stool antigen tests

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

relapse? negative blood/stool antigen tests

Post by helio_joe »

Hi all,

Been struggling with h.pylori for a while now.. let me summarize the journey a bit.

December 2017 - Diagnosed via breath test, started 14 day treatment consisting of 3 antibiotics and PPI:

PANTOPRAZOLE 40MG
RAN-CLARITHROMYCIN 250MG
AMOXICILLIN 500MG
METRONIDAZOLE 250MG

Jan 2018 - Subsequent stool test was negative

April 2018 - Symptoms return in full force
Stool antigen test negative

May - Symptoms remain
Blood antigen test negative

Tomorrow I am doing another breath test, hoping for a positive result so I can try another treatment.. so I am left wondering.. should I be prescribed a different combination? How do I go about getting the doctors to agree with this?

Symptoms:

shortness of breath (especially when exercising)
low iron
irregular heart beart
bad breath
acid reflux
small intestine inflammation/pain
diziness
bleaching/gas
skin irritations and cysts

Maybe I can forward my doctor this study? https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf ... /apt.12089

You are most probably free of H. pylori now. Congrats!

You can ask your doctor for some PPI to ease the symptoms. I think what you are experiencing is incidental, not related to H. pylori.

Hey there, thanks for the reply!

So breath test also came back negative, is it worth doing an endoscopy or is that just overkill at this point?

if you have symptoms, i think you can try control with PPI. If your previous endoscopy did not show any abnormality, then there is no need for another endoscopy within a year.
