Good and (really) bad days after my H. Pylori treatment

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

That's good to hear man. Keep us posted with your recovery!
Good luck with your test. Don't be too discouraged if you aren't feeling better post treatment. I and many others had a very similar recovery with a confirmed eradication.

Hi Helico_expert. I just wanted your input on the following. I recently had a bad case of gastroenteritis. I have since recovered from vomiting and diarrhea. However, most of my previous symptoms have flared up. I'm experiencing more burping than usual, nausea, and on and off stomach pains. Could an episode of gastroenteritis cause this flare up? Thanks.

Yeah definitively.
After H.Pilory your stomach is very fragile, its regenerating but slowly.
Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of both the stomach and the intestine so your freshly healed stomach is probably suffering.

Terrible timing tbh.

Thanks, Shidox. Yep, really bad timing. Disrupted my "almost there" recovery big time.

Helico expert: If you glance through my last few posts you'd find that I had an episode of gastroenteritis a month ago possibly due to some bacterial pathogens. The burning sensation in my stomach which was virtually gone has come back since then. I'm also having a lot of gas and bloating. Is this normal? Or should I seek medical attention. I have also started to burp more often although it is not as bad as it was when I was going through the H. Pylori trwatment.

Hi alecvolk,

How long ago you finished your treatment? have you done a follow up breath test to check if it is completely eradicated?

Helico: I have had confirmed eradication since May. I had started feel a lot better with some gas and bloating issues. However, this recent episode (early July) of gastroenteritis has left me with a burning sensation; more burping and gas; and bloating. I'm also feeling more fatigued (but that could be due to sleep). I haven't had any sexual relations since my eradication. Not married. Live with a roommate with no sharing.

Hi,

Unfortunately you have to control your symptoms with PPI. It is not know. Why patient develop acid reflux after treatment. But half of the patient recover after a while. Hopefully you'll be back to normal within a year.

Helico: In my case, what's the likelihood of reinfection? And can an episode of gastroenteritis flare up gastritis and stomach issues that were almost resolved after my treatment?
