Lingering Symptoms

Post by lbfarmboy »

Before I was diagnosed with h-pylori in June of 2013, I had a slight burning sensation in my esophagus, I was then treated in July 0f 2013 with triple therapy, then I started to get a burning in my esophagus and into the stomach that comes and goes.....I have tried all sorts of acid blocker/reducers and nothing reduces the burning when it comes on. The weirdest thing is when this burning is going on I feel a neuropathy type of pain in arms and legs, this to comes and goes. I have had two stool tests and two EGD procedures with biopsies on both and all shows negative for any bacteria or cancers.
My latest visit with the GI doctor has now led me to a referral to a rheumatology doctor because the GI doctor says he does not see any problems in the GI area....Things have gotten progressively worse for me after this triple therapy treatment last year!! Can anyone tell me if the whole process of having the bacteria and then being treated for it would have anything to do with disrupting your immune system? I am extremely miserable at times and it makes it hard to carry through the day, is it just possible that I am not healed from this ordeal??......PLS. anyone give advice for help, Thanks!

There is a believe that H. pylori tame the immune system. That was the explanation for children with H. pylori are less likely to get allergy disease such as asthma. Some even believes that H. pylori carriers are less likely to get immune diseases such as Multiple sclerosis.

Thanks Helico Expert.......can you tell me anything about the burning sensation, why causes this? Sometimes it is almost unbearable and antacids do not stop it...... This seems to be a complaint of most all who have been treated for hpylori.

I believe it's the acid that has been pushed out from the stomach to the throat. Because your throat has no mucous protection like the stomach, so the throat can get burned by the acid.
