I am totally confused this is my history

The various unpleasant manifestations of Helicobacter can be described here. Remember however that the great majority of persons with Hp have no symptoms that they are aware of and consider themselves normal.

Everyone's symptoms seem to be different. It does make one wonder if it is not something else. None of my symptoms are as bad as yours.
I just have burning in my lower stomach, very uncomfortable bloating as the day goes on which now stops me from running in the evening. It does affect my everyday life though especially trying to concentrate on work. I have been treated 3 times with antibiotics and not sure if it has gone or not. If it hasn't then the symptoms must be due to stress at work or something to do with my stomach retaining acid as it is much worse if I sit. I had been giving PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) to stop the acid but all doses low or high causes me intense pain and if I had any milk it made the pain 10 times worse and really bad wind! I assume it got rid of so much acid that there wasn't enough to digest the milk but I haven't found anyone else with this problem. My H-py was diagnosed with a blood test initially then the treatment and checked later by endoscopy which showed gastritis and a tiny biopsy was taken to test for the presence of H-pylori and this proved positive so more treatment followed and again the symptoms seemed to get worse but the only way to test it in our hospital is a blood test (stays positive for ages whether it's gone or not) or endoscopy. They don't do stool tests which seems a cheap and less invasive method. I found a reputable place that did stool tests and that came back positive, so treatment followed. I have tested negative since as I did for a while between treatments but think it might be back as the symptoms seem to be getting worse despite me trying to exclude anything else (like milk, eggs, wheat, alcohol etc).
Anyway I have tried to sort it out myself as I have been given loads of different acid suppressants and drugs to help my stomach empty but the only things that have ever helped is eating small amounts to help the burning, avoiding milk, not getting stressed (impossible at work) and never sitting down hence I am not fat! I feel there is no point returning to my doctor as everything has been tried. I can only think it could be my stomach not emptying properly with the combination of the H-pylori but I don't know. I am worried if I keep working it will turn into an ulcer....I do long nights which are a killer.
Anyway just to let you know you are not the only one confused. Seems to be loads of symptoms. I also seem to have a low neutrophil count (1.2) most of the time so perhaps the rest are busy fighting the H-pylori. If anyone can advise me I would be very interested.

Hi Rose -
I too have had a previous history of elevated white blood cells or my urine showing I have an infection, but they can't tell where it was in my body. About 5 years ago, these tests also showed that my liver levels were up. My GP then sent me to see a gastro specialist and had an endoscopy performed. I was told that I had an auto-immune disorder where as the body attacks itself. This doctor at the time told me that the cause was unknown. He told me I needed to have a liver biopsy to see how much damage was caused to my liver. I told him no way. I figured if there was damage, I would find out about it soon enough without having a small piece of it sucked out my side. All my life I have had bouts off and on of diarrhea, stomach cramping and generally feeling badly. I was told I probably had colitis like my grandmother. When she died, she was 5'6" and 83 lbs. I haven't grown at all since I was 14.

In August, we moved into a new house. It had sat vacant since the previous owner passed away almost 8 months previous to our moving in. I drank the water for a little while before I realized I didn't really like the taste. (I was trying to keep from buying bottled water.) About 3 months ago, I started feeling badly again with stomach cramping and diarrhea, but this time I also had the feeling that I constantly had something in my throat. At times it felt like my throat was constricting so badly I thought I would choke. My weight one year ago was 118 lbs. One month ago, it was 109 lbs. Today, I am at 105 lbs. My chiropractor gave me some enzymes that seemed to help with the diarrhea. She told me that I should go ahead with the endoscopy that my gastro doctor stated I needed. I did that on 12/30/10. They found I had gastritis and they took a biopsy to have it tested. About 10 days later, the doctor's office called my to let me know that I tested positive for h. pylori. I started the antiobiotics immediately.

I am 4 days into my regimen. I don't feel badly except I have frequent black, tarry stools. I am like you in wonering whether the h. pylori could have been in the pipes. I hope you are feeling better and get some relief soon.

Neesie
