Functional dyspepsia

The various unpleasant manifestations of Helicobacter can be described here. Remember however that the great majority of persons with Hp have no symptoms that they are aware of and consider themselves normal.

Functional dyspepsia

Post by Sajal »

Is it already established that eradicating h pylori infection would in turn improve dyspepsia symptoms?

I have heard that sometimes eradicating h pylori does not effect dyspepsia symptoms.

In most cases, eradicating H. pylori can relief gastric symptoms.

Not everyone's gastric symptoms is because of H. pylori.

What if gastric symptoms are started due to inflammation caused by h pylori?

Thus, there are possibilities that symptoms may persist even after eradicated h pylori.

I have recently decided to go for another endoscopy and stopped taking ppis. This has caused excessive acidity and reflux. What should I do?
I have tried staying on ranitidine but that interferes with my sex life(experienced low libido)

You can try other H2 blockers or antacid.

Hello there...

I have observed over time that I have got increased acid secretion after h pylori eradication. I have to go through with acidity, reflux, bloating, and a sensation of closed esophagus.
I didn't know that I also have reflux before I stopped taking ppis as I have decided to once again go for gastroscopy to reconfirm eradication and to get an update regarding inflammation of stomach(gastritis and duodenitis). I get acid reflux usually in the evening time which I have been able to suppress by taking Ranitidine. However, I am too much concerned about this; I already had enough symptoms to look after and now this acidity only adds to my existing sufferings.

I have heard that eradication of h pylori can lead to increased acid secretion let alone GERD. It's been already 3and half months post eradication.

What are your views regarding this helico expert?

it is true that some patients can develop reflux symptom after H. pylori treatment. Hence some doctors dont want to risk it if the H. pylori infection is not symptomatic.

However, I think a reflux is better than ulcer or cancer. So i would rather have H. pylori eradicated. reflux can be controlled by either PPI or H2 blocker.

Since you already booked yourself for an endoscopy, you should take H2 blocker instead of PPI to control your acid. You can continue H2 blocker until the night before endoscopy.

I hope it is just a rebound effect of stopping ppis or a symptom of inflammation of stomach, and things improves over time.
