Waiting for test results - does this sound like Pylori?

Hi there! I've been having a somewhat dull constant pain under my right rib cage for two years as well as shortness of breath and since the last two months onwards, (occasionally yellowish) diarrhea as well as floaters. I feel bloated and mildly nauseated quite often. After eating symptoms get slightly better but not for long. Flatulence is becoming increasingly an issue. I'd say the pain is a 4 out of 10 but having it for so long is making me very anxious considering I'm traveling to Latin America soon.

I'm 27 years old, male caucasian who's 5.8 feet tall and weights 71kg.

I've noticed eating/drinking beer and particularly coffee make the symptoms worse.

Endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, celiac blood test and stool analysis for parasites did not detect anything wrong.

I had a tiny kidney stone in the past.

I have taken no medication other than your average anti-inflammatory and painkiller. I have no other medical issues other than scoliosis.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

I did an insane number of blood tests on Tuesday, one of the related to h. pylori antibodies, but I have to wait until next Monday or so for the results. In the meantime, I'd like to know whether you think this may indeed be a case of h. pylori. If it's not I'm pretty much screwed as every doctor seems to be clueless and I have to be the one suggesting potential causes and respective tests.

Also, if it turns out the issue is h. pylori, which probiotics do you recommend me getting? I read that the antibiotics suggested are Omeprazole + Clarithromycin + Amoxicilin/Metronidazole - would you say this is accurate?

Thank you very much guys!

EDIT: Not sure if relevant but my mom is currently taking antibiotics after having had a severe case of gastroenteritis. She has pylori.

what kind of pain killers are you taking? Pin killers like NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, aspirin, etc) can cause stomach ulcer.

The triple therapy you mentioned, PPI + Amox + Clarithromycin/Metronidazole is fine.

There is no guideline to what probiotics to take. So any probiotics you find working will do.

Hi Helico_expert! I rarely take painkillers - I take the pain like a champ hahaha (the pain is not that bad and I found that painkillers do little to help). A guy told me in another board that the symptoms sound like chronic pancreatitis so I got super scared. I sure hope it's h. pylori-related.

EDIT: Keep in mind no biopsy was taken during my endoscopy for some reason that goes beyond me.

Your specialist should have taken the biopsy. Anyway, good luck to your treatment. Hopefully you have very little side effects and able to get rid of HP in one treatment.

I'm not sure I have it. I'll get the results on Monday. Do you think this could have been caused by Pylori based on my description of the symptoms?

If I was very far off I think you'd have told me so I'll take that as a "possibly" hehehe. Thank you very much!

I feel your pain here,i delt with acid reflux for 7 months after stopping smoking i got brushed aside by my gps saying that it was anexity and stuff, then finally did a stool just before christmas to find out i tested positive for H Pylori, did the triple therapy everything was good till friday, major diarrhea for 5 days carnt say what it is they think could he a stomach bug but no vomiting or fever.

The therapy does the job but watch what you eat if you go onto the course will help in the long run.

Best of luck

Thanks for your comment Paul! It was confirmed today I've got pylori. I'll start taking antibiotics tomorrow.

Hey guys, here's my update: I'm on the 5th (out of 10) days of therapy. The drugs I'm taking are Lansoprazol (2x a day), Metronidazol (3x a day) and Amoxicillin (3x a day) as well as probiotics of different Bacillus. Stools are no longer floating and bloating is generally better. Gnawing pain under the right rib cage remains and nausea intensified. Once I'm done with these probiotics (in 25 days) I'll buy Saccharomyces boulardii. Please let me know if you think there's anything unusual in what I just reported. Thanks!
