Could all this be caused by Helicobacter?

The various unpleasant manifestations of Helicobacter can be described here. Remember however that the great majority of persons with Hp have no symptoms that they are aware of and consider themselves normal.

Original posters TSH too high, indicates thyroid disorder. TSH should be around 1.0, over 3.0 definitiely indicates thyroid disorder, probably Hashimoto's thyroiditis. A lot of the symptoms are due to the low thyroid hormones. He needs to go have thyroid antibodies run to confirm Hashimotos, then get on replacment T4 and T3 hormones. H. Pylori has been linked to Hashimoto's and there are even some recent studies that it reverses with H. Pylori eradication

I am sorry to hear your lost.

I have to let you know that while H. pylori is associated with gastric cancer, it doesnt make you get cancer easily. More than half of the world people is infected with H. pylori and only a handful percentage of people get gastric cancer. So, genetic inheritance is the most likely way of getting gastric cancer and H. pylori seems to be able to accelerate the process.

In addition, it is not easy to spread H. pylori among the adults. Because adults are usually aware of hygiene and we clean our hands after toilets. Nevertheless, it is possible to spread H. pylori to someone very close to you, perhaps via kissing or sharing food. Even though the chance of transmitting H. pylori via kissing and sharing food is low, the constant daily exposure increases the odd.

So, the best way is to get everyone under the same roof to check for H. pylori and get everyone treated in the same time. That will prevent any reinfection in the future.

note: treatment to children may not be necessary as the antibiotics may do more harm than good to children.
