Had anti biotic resistant (just found out) Hpylori for over a year - symptoms

Unable to lose weight regardless of the exercise I do - seen a dietician and its is unexplainable
Swollen stomach (like eight months pregnant)
Puffy all the time.

(blood work thyroid, liver, kidneys, etc are all excellent)

I have had three lots of antibiotics and the quadruple therapy made me so ill I nearly ended up in hospital.

So I am at a very sad loss as I feel it is in charge, it doesn't help that I am also fructose malabsorption and had crypotosporidium, my poor stomach and intestines have had enough. :o

Just need some words of comfort as most people don't understand. xx

Hi. you are a bit unlucky to have the resistant H. pylori. However, you are not alone. Most of the members here had difficult strains. If you read through the forum, you'll probably find someone that had even more severe and terrible symptoms.

Nevertheless, let's hope that your problem is H. pylori related. In some cases, the symptoms are not H. pylori related but it gets the blame. And when HP was eradicated, symptom persist.

So, I like to understand your treatment status. what treatments have you had? When did you last do your UBT? what was the UBT result?

Hi,

Yes I have been reading through a few and it is sad, as most people don't know what it is even and its difficult to articulate.

I have 3 lots of the normal antibiotics set of three. 7 day course

Then one dose of the Dr Marshall recommended Quadruple therapy and got some Pepto Bismol shipped in to Oz from the Uk on ChemistDirect.

Last UBT showed a reading of 2250.

Do you know the exact antibiotics that you had before? (the standard normal triple therapy and Prof. Marshall therapy).

when did you get the UBT result that gave >2000?

just a month ago before the quadruple therapy which was Pepto Bismol
Amoycillin, metrocycline and doxycycline - apologise if they are not spelled correctly I am going from memory.

I advised the doctor thought that Amoxycillin never works on me and doesn;t work on my 5 year old neither so may not work in the therapy.

From our collection of H. pylori since 1998, there is no H. pylori that is resistant to Amoxy. So, as long as you are not allergy to amoxy, you should keep using it (in high dose 3g/day).

so, what is the quadruple therapy that you have had?
