Re: Pre Existing Tinnitus

I suggest that you take a double dose of the acid blocker (to increase the power of the antibiotics), with amoxicillin 1g bid and clarithromycin at least 500 mg bid for at least 7 days. That should do it and be a fair compromise in the risk department. Actually, I never saw tinnitus caused by this t...

Re: Treatment at the Foundation?

Re us treating you? I don't have time to do this myself, but we can send information to your doctor. There are suppliers I use to mail the drugs to your doctor if you arranged it. I will discuss the options with my team to see if it is feasible. Meantime, please look at http://www.trimed.com.au - it...

Re: h. pylori and colitis - any link?

I have seen this question many times in the past. Studies of people with ulcerative colitis - or people on sulfasalazine - have shown no increase in H.pylori. So it is probably not a cause. Other campylobacters and bacteria can give a similar picture on histology (biopsy) so at some point have stool...

Re: Brain Bacteria Link? ADHD, Iraq Syndrome, IBS, Gastro etc.

I symapthise and try to keep an open mind on vague G.I. syndromes, ADHD, but, in general, the concept of gut-brain connections is over-rated in my opinion. Similarly with "food allergy". However, having said that, I do beleive that many bacterial and viral infections still go undiagnosed. The actual...

Re: (PCOS) PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome

As far as i know there is no link with PCOS. But some people think Hp lowers your state of general health so things work better after Hp is treated. Obviously Hp is not a major cause of infertility since half the people in the world have it. :D

Re: Helicobacter aftermath

I have one suggestion. If you had gastritis with low acidity, you could have returned to normal acidity after treatment for Helicobacter. If you have esophagogastric reflux, you now have heartburn, air swallowing etc. So you have acid problems, possibly GERD. You may also have continuing Hp which ha...

Re: Seeking Info

The paper to read is in Moodley et al; Science, 323:527-530,2009 . Firstly, there is evidence that Helicobacters infected humans ever since we left Africa 70,000 years ago. With Moodley and many others we studied Helicobacter DNA from all over the world and decided that there were strains in Austral...

Re: Resistant Bacteria! or False Positive Breath Tests

Can you list your treatments and follow-up tests in a readable format for me (see below)? If you had a biopsy without bacteria being seen then it suggests that the bacteria may be eradicated already and the breath test is a false positive result. That could occur if you were taking acid blockers pri...

Re: Urea breath test

You can get treatment now without endoscopy - unless you have a serious illness such as weight loss etc (called "warning symptoms") to suggest a more serious condition. That is why we invented the breath test - to save you all that bother of endoscopy. p.s. However, there are many reasons to...

Re: PrevPac - vomiting on treatment - can I stop it?

If you stop and start the medicine the bacteria will become antibiotic resistant and it will be much harder to cure the infection in the future. So try to finish it all. The acid blocker (Prevacid) does not usually give trouble and it makes the antibiotic work better so you must keep taking as much ...
