HELICO HELL PLEASE HELP ADVISE???

The various unpleasant manifestations of Helicobacter can be described here. Remember however that the great majority of persons with Hp have no symptoms that they are aware of and consider themselves normal.

GI upset is can be due to so many factors. but 3 weeks is long enough to have Amoxicillin out of the system. Have you tried some mint tea or probiotics to see if they smooth your GI symptoms?

yea. it'll be very severe diarrhea and you wont be able to stay up and reply to the forum. But, it's good that you have discussed that with your doctor who can physically examine you.

Had consultation this evening with GI consultant.

He advised........

continue with 20mg PPI for one more week then STOP!

wait a month from PPI discontinuation.Re test with antigen test to see if helicon is still present.

Advised that 1g bd amoxicillin for 14 days is well effective to eradicate helicon and hopefully test should come back clear.

Re gastric problems as listed above are more probably down to PPI.Things should start to settle about a week after finishing PPI.

IF symptoms persist....I need to see him again for further tests BUT he is very optimistic that my GI system should go back to normal even if I am helico positive.

he was concerned about the amount of blood loss I had that made me anemic and my hgb levels should be monitored regulary.

IF symptoms persist post PPI further investigation is needed.

I guess as long as he is confident. Just let you know that PPI and amoxicillin (dual drug therapy), has a cure rate of 50% on H. pylori.

I read lots of stuff on amoxicillin cure rates for helico.they vary greatly.
I think and conclude that its all down to the individual and strain of helico.
If I test positive in a month....Gi to me to get gp referral to see him to eradicate.

Thanks for your help as allways.
