How do I know for sure I need to be treated for Helicobacter

Postby Isabel » Thu Mar 08, 2012 6:19 pm

Hi, just been told by doctor my blood test for helicobater was positive. I have been prescribed Nexium HP7. I hate taking antibiotics. The reason I went to the doctor is that I get bloated but its due to a rediculous amount of gas that forms and builds up in my tummy throughout the day from about lunch time regardless of what I eat. None of the information I have read sounds like my symptoms. The doctor also recommended I have a colonoscopy done and also if my symptoms don't improve in a weeks time after treatment I should have an ultrasound. Should I not have these done before starting any treatment?? Hope someone can help :(

I think the correct question is... do you want to remove H. pylori since you were tested positive? A lot of people is asymptomatic. Usually problems come in at later age. Bloating is one of the symptom some people complaint.

getting rid of H. pylori may not remove your bloating problem. However, removing it reduces your chance of other stomach problem in the future.
