New to this, please help

Hi,

Can someone tell me if this is normal? I started having stomach cramps etc way back in Nov 15 and was diagnosed with H.Pylori after cameras both ends and samples diagnosed (apologies for lack of terms). I then took a double dose of antibiotics, one of which made my mouth taste of shampoo mixed with iron fillings! I finished this about a month ago but my stomach still aches at times, like a lead weight in the pit of my stomach, also my digestion gurgles and still hasn't gone back to normal. My question is is this normal to take that long? I'm giving another stool test tomorrow as a follow up standard test but the specialist just says I should give it time to settle down. Have I now got a longer problem than I thought? Can diet help resolve this? How did I get it in the first place?

Thanks in advance

Matthew

if you have stopped all antibiotics and PPI, you can go get yourself a stool or breath test to confirm if the treatment works. If the treatment was successful and you are free of H. pylori, then you can focus on the healing.

if you read through the forum, you'll find members that took months and even years until they feel better. The healing is depending on the damage done by H. pylori.

H. pylori is normally transmitted when you are young. You probably dont remember how your mother feed you food. but it's very common for mother to blow on food to bring down temperature, or lick on the pacifier, or suck on the milk bottle tit to try the temperature, or even chew the food to make sure there is no bones. So we believe that's when H. pylori is transmitted.

can diet resolve this? probably. Some forum members did mention that the change of diet, eg. avoid gluten, has helped. So if the symptoms persist, perhaps you need to see a immunologist or dietitian to find out if you are allergic to certain food.

I wouldnt say they are absolutely bad or absolutely good. I think its ok to have some "occasionally". Eating anything in excessive amount cannot be good. I think balance diet is the key. get enough fruits and vegetables. less salt and sugar.
