Hello,

I had an Endoscopy and a ultrasonography of abdomen.

ultrasonography report=ok
Endoscopy showed antral gastritis. Other parts of stomach are ok.

My doc said that I have infection in stomach. I have been suffering from this infection since 6 months.

Doc had prescribed me a combination of three drugs- two antibiotics-Amoxicillin, and Clarithromycin and PPI for 10 days, and after that I was supposed to continue 1 Pantoprazole capsule in the morning for next 30 days.

I've completed the triple therapy course about 5 days ago. But I still have stomach discomfort. And now I am on PPI for next 30 days.

How long will it take to be completely normal again ?

that's quite subjective. most people recover quite quickly. Hopefully you'll recover soon.

by the way, you can gradually reduce your PPI when you feel better.

Thanks @Helico_expert for your reply :) So it means I have to wait for sometime.

I hope I will recover soon. I am just getting a little impatient. I have been hearing scary stories that this bacteria is difficult to treat, sometimes it become antibiotics- resistant, which made me to post this question. Anyways, lets wait for the next 30 days, and I will visit my doc again I will keep you posted when I will be fully recovered. It would be good to share some positive stories as well. :)

Helico_expert, I have been suffering from stomach issues for more than six months. Since I am suffering for a long period, will it affect the effectiveness of my treatment ?

My stomach is still burping sometimes along with discomfort symptoms, does it mean infection is still there?

many people got infected when they are young. so, it's decades of infection and only about 10% reported symptoms.

as i said, the recovery time differ from one to another. it depends on the severe is the damage done. However, with the proof of H. pylori eradication, most of the patient does return to normal either immediately or gradually.

"Stress" does give you H. pylori-like symptoms. Especially in developed countries, where H. pylori prevalence is low, we are seeing more and more patients who present gastric symptoms without H. pylori. In one of our human clinical trial, one group of volunteers were given placebo and another group was challenged with a live H. pylori. I wont go into detail of the project, but in less than one month, one volunteer was sent into emergency with severe gastric problems. Because it was a double blind research, nobody knows if he was given the real H. pylori or the placebo. But for the safe sake, we gave all the antibiotics we have to calm his symptoms. Three months later at the end of the research, when we reveal which group this patient belongs to, to everyone's surprise, he was from the placebo group.

So in conclusion, it was all in his mind. He was so stressed up with the trial and he developed all these symptoms. Just like when we are nervous, sometimes we need to go to the bathroom.

Hi Helico_expert,
Quick update= I still feel bloated sometimes, and sometime (rare) mild warm feeling in left side/stomach area after my first line of treatment. Is it possible that bloating may continue after Hpylori treatment ?

I visited doctor today
He prescribed me bioactive immunity booster capsules for 10 days, Cinitarpride and Pantoprozole capsules and a medicine called Clidinum bromide chlordiazepoxide & dicycldmine HCL tablet.

Some people may continue to feel the bloating. However, most of these people do feel overall much better. Let's wait 4 weeks and repeat the breath test to find out if your H. pylori has been eradicated.
