H pylori ruined my life

Post by UmarKhan »

Hi guys i m a patient of H pylori. My story is way too long but i would just try to make it short. I m 19 years old right now.
So it started 3 years ago i started to get too many sinus problems so what i actually had it was like too much mucus coming out of my nose and throat. So i went to my doctor she told me to do a bloodtest. In my bloodtest came out that i had a deficiency of vitamin b12 and d. After that i started to feel sick everyday. Everyday i had like flu and had no more energy. I went many times to a nose and throat specialist but they told me that there was nothing wrong with my nose and throat. I had to take vitamins but they didn't help either. I was feeling sick everyday. After some time my doctor gave me acid reducing drugs. I started taking it but still till now i have something coming up my throat it's like white which i think it actually is acid.
After that i went to a gastrologist. I had to do a endoscopy of my stomach. He saw it and said there was some sort of infection going on. So he also gave me a acid reducing medicine. But i didn't feel better and i had to go again. This time i was actually feeling more worse. I had constipation and diarrhea for 2 or 3 months so i thought it was not normal. I did an endoscopie again of my stomach and also of my large intestine in which i came out H pylori positive. My doctor gave me a heavy dose of thripple therapy for 10 days. i completed it with too much effort cause i started to have undigested food in my stool and i had no energy at all anymore. After few weeks i did a stooltest which again came out h pylori positive. My doctor gave me again a therapy of 5 medicines. I started to feel very good but still had diarrhea. Some of my symptoms like the too much mucus in throat and nose are completely gone which i had for 2 years :( but some symptoms sweating while it's cold, pain in the bones, lack of energy did went gone for a while but now they came back.i had to do a endoscopy again. My results will come on monday. But i still have diarrhea and a hell of a gas which forces me to go to the toilet after every 1 hour and also that undigested food in my stool. I m feeling like it will stay like this for the rest of my life. Sometimes i think it would never go away and i have to live with it.
Guys i would love to hear what u people would say about this. Thanks in advance. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello,
I am really sorry to hear what's happening to you. It is, indeed very upsetting especially at your age. I thing there is several things going on with you. First I would take care about the H.pylori problem. If the bacteria hasn't been eradicated with the treatments you had, try to ask sensitivity testing on the bacteria. For this, they will need to take biopsy of your stomachs during the next endoscopy so they can culture the bacteria and check what it is sensitive to. The next treatment will then be personalised for you and you will have a better chance of eradicating H.pylori. Ask your gastroenterologist about this. Our therapy includes Rabeprazole (or any PPI), Bismuth, Rifabutin and Ciprofloxacin and has 95% success rate. One month after the treatment, do a breath test or stool test to check if you are eradicated from the bacteria. Don't forget that it will take a while for you to feel better after the treatment. Your stomach needs lots of time to recover. A good and healthy diet can help. If you are not feeling better, I would recommend a full check up. I know it must be difficult but stay positive. Seek advice from different doctors.
Good luck,

I m really happy to see that someone replied, Thank you very much. And my doctors took biopsy in my last endoscopy which showed that H pylori is gone but this time i came positive for some parasites in my small intestine which is again really frustrating :( .I had to take Flagyl(Metronidazole) for 2 weeks which doesn't had a big effect but still it does have a small effect i don't have too much abdominal cramps now. But i m still having undigested food and extreme fatigue which makes me feel really bad. Now i have to stop with school because of this, i have no other choice .I can't go to school if i am that tired. I am gonna start taking rest and pray. I wouldn't even let my enemy get this infection. It ruines the whole life.

At least you found the parasites. Let's finish your antibiotics and then wait for a while to reconfirm the results. Keep us posted of your outcome.

A friend of mine faced a similar situation. It all started with the mucus in throat and after 3 to 4 months, the doctor was like you are H Pylori positive. Really need to tell him out the solution provided. Reallly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi there,
I've read your post and I am really sorry for what you've gone through. Your situation however is fairly similar to the one I was in. Basically it all started with mucus coming down my throat, stuck nose and so on. After HP eradication it was better for a bit but not for good. That was in 2012 roughly. This year I finally found out I am gluten intolerant sufferer and nearly all the problems have gone away, especially bloating and indigestion and headaches. Since you mentioned you have some indigested bits leaving your bowels, think about an allergy. It could be gluten, milk or solely lactose. I hope this might be of help to you pal!

Dont worry..i am 19 and dignosed just now with h.pylori positive after 1 year of suffering and other treatmemts..i have bloating ,abdominal pain, memory loss, poor appetite, constipation, poor mental health and fatigue all the day. The 1 st thing i think after getting in the morning is my shoulder pain for an year...i am taking triple therapy now and i am feeling a bit better. I am a 1 st year medico and i could do nothing in my studies. But you have to keep on trying till the very end bcz that makes you to move on. Try to reduce depression as much as possible.probiotics and enzyme supplements may improve you.

I too came up positive for H. pylori. I’ve been dealing with the symptoms for about two months now. Though I didn’t get much mucus buildup in my throat and nose, I do have other symptoms. Constipation and diarrhea at the same time, abdominal pain, chills, shoulder pain, and fatigue. I also have another symptom that I’m wondering if anyone else experienced it. A burning sensation on my chest. Happens mostly when I lay down. I am currently on my a Quadruple Therapy odor 14 days. Hoping this all goes away when I’m done with the treatment as it is a terrible feeling. Let me know if anyone else experienced the burning sensation on their chest please.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Many of the symptoms you described are not common to H. pylori.
H. pylori doesnt cause mucus building up in the throat and nose.
H. pylori doesnt cause constipation or diarrhea either.
Chills, shoulder pain and fatigue are commonly not associated with H. pylori.
Only the abdominal pain and heart burn are more commonly associated with H. pylori.
What diagnostic test did your doctor gave you to confirm H. pylori infection?
You are currently on Quadruple therapy, do you mind list down which 4 medications are you currently taking?
