New to this site/with hp

Post by Kalarov »

Hello all
Im new to this site and have just been diagnosed as having HP after suffering for about 3 years. My symptoms were fairly severe, Vomiting, Cramps, flatulance and severe belching which came up as a bad agg smell and could literally fill a room with the stench. I have just finished the triple treatment but several weeks later the syptoms have returned although they are much milder in their intensity. What is my next step???
Grtaeful for any help.

Hi, a month after your first treatment, you should go see your GP and ask for a breath test. it is possible that your first treatment did not completely remove the bacteria.

If your second breath test shows positive after a month of first treatment, then you should consider a different combination of antibiotics for H. pylori treatment. Because it is possible that the H. pylori is resistant to the first treatment.

If the breath test shows negative after a month of first treatment, then it is reasonable enough to believe that the H. pylori has been successfully eradicated. To prevent re-infection, avoid sharing food with other people, especially close relatives and friends. recommend your immediate family to have breath test check.

Hi- just completed my second set of anti biotic mixtures about three weeks ago but right on schedule the old symptoms are back again, although they appear to be slightly less intense.
Am I doomed to have this HP for the rest of my life or is there anything else I can do, its becoming a bit depressing .

Please help.

Dont give up so quickly. Perhaps your H. pylori is resistant to your previous treatment. Can I suggest you to do an gastroscopy, get a culture of your H. pylori and test for antibiotic sensitivity?

Your specialist will then be able to prescribe the right antibiotic to kill it.

One more thing, is it common for HP symptoms to go away for long periods, as mine does, and then return again. Sometimes the symptoms can leave me for 4 or 5 months and then return. Is it something Im doing or eating or drinking thats triggering it off???????????. Ive noticed that since Ive had HP its more active in the summer months, May to August and seldom affects me in the winter, or is that just coincidence??

Thanks for your time and help by the way.
