Husband has h pylori that won't go away

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

Husband has h pylori that won't go away

Post by jen_jonathan » Thu Feb 23, 2017 4:58 pm

My husband was diagnosed about two years ago with h pylori after having massive stomach pain all the time.

His doc had him do the "standard treatment packet" at that time and was retested and found positive. We tried natural therapies for about 6 months (mastic gum, lemongrass essential oil).

He was retested last year and it was still found positive. His stomach was a mess though, so we weren't ready for another round of antibiotics. We got that healed up with clean eating for about 6 months with the addition of Enteragam. His round two he started in December and was Bioxin 500, Flagil 500 and anti acid twice a day for two weeks --- we waited a month and had him retested. He is still positive.

His doc is suggesting that in some people, it will never go away and that we should just do endoscopy every two years. He thinks he got this years ago (my husband is originally from Jordan and arrived here in 1992) and that there is little chance of getting rid of it.

I wanted to check for other opinions on additional treatments and to see if there is general consensus that some people are not able to rid the h. pylori out of their systems?

Thank you so much for any and all advice!

I think you need to find a specialist that has access to a laboratory that can culture H. pylori. Only with the bacteria cultured, they can do an antibiotic sensitivity test to find out exactly what antibiotics that will work on your husband.

Prof Marshall only see patients with multi drug resistant and by doing the above testing, we have a cure rate of over 90%.

Maybe your husband has Epstein barr infection and H.PYLORI treatment won't do a thing for his gastritis.

your doctor seems like a pretty despicable person.
Giving up on the eradication process after ONLY 2 rounds of antibiotic is the worst thing i've ever read, i mean just have a look around here. We have a lot of success stories after even 5 or 6 rounds ;)

My advice would be for you to take Pylera, this is the best treatment for helicobacter that is widely avaible for now ( 90% + cure rate )
Sure its harsh on the body but IT WORKS.

If Pylera by some miracle didn't work you have to get a bacterial culture done ( antibiogram ), basically your GE will take a sample of your helicobacter and run a series of test on it so you know what antibiotics will work on it ( this method is a personalized program an will work 100% of the time )

Natural remedies should never be used as a cure alone, they just don't work on their own but can be a nice little addition to the antibiotics ( as an example garlic + triple therapy has been scientifically proven to be more effective than standard triple therapy ).

Also changing doctors appears to be a "healthy" decision if you can afford it.
