3 Times Treated for H Pylori But No Good Results

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

I remember I took metronidazole 400mg 6 months ago. My doctor transcribed it to treat amebic dysentery. I think I had had H. Pylori before I got the amebic dysentery. Does that mean H. Pylori is resistant to metronidazole.

I know that I ask to many questions. But I have no other choice. I am in one of the poorest countries of the world, and most of the GI doctors here are unqualified. They don't even read. They just know what they learned at school.
These are my previous courses (just in case):
1st treatment (triple)
Nexium 20mg (Esomeprazole) and O2 (Ofloxacin & Ornidazole) for one week
Nexium 20mg (Esomeprazole), Claritek (Clarithromycin) and Glomox 1000mg (Amoxicilin) for two weeks
2nd treatment (triple)
My doctor did not change anything. He just prescribed me the same medicines.
3rd treatment (triple)
Nexium 40mg (Esomeprazole), Tavacin 500mg (Levofloxacin), and Glomox 1000mg (Amoxicilin) for two weeks.

I think my H. Pylori is resistant to amoxicilin. I have read quite a lot studies that support my claim.
Is there a possibility that you would ask Dr. Marshall?

Please ... please help me.
I am so desperate. I feel like I am a dead person alive. I so fatigued that I don't want to work or do anything.

Thank you for you patience and help.

Sorry for the slow response. I have actually raised your question to Prof Marshall. However, he must be very busy as he is currently oversea.

anyway, H. pylori cannot get resistance to Amoxicillin and Bismuth. So you can always take PPI + Amox + Bismuth + one other antibiotic.

This antibiotic cannot be
clarithromycin,
quinolones (Levofloxacin, ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, and etc).

So how about you ask your doctor about metronidazole in combination with Amox, bismuth and PPI?

Thank you so much for your reply.
How much will it take until Dr. Marshall answer?
I don't think it's a good idea to discuss that with my doctor. He doesn't know the mechanism of antibiotics. He was the one who prescribed me Amoxicilin and Tetracycline.
And you didn't answer my question regarding metranidazole. I have taken it to treat amebic dysentery, and I believe I took it while still having H Pylori. Does that make it resistant to it? If not, what about:
bismuth subsalicylate
tetracycline
metronidazol
and lansoprazole?
If you recommend it to my case? What dosage should I take? And when should I take them (the schedule)?
I have been waiting in agony.
I don't have other choices.

Thanks for your help.

Barjammar and Helico_Expert studied your case. The treatment you list is a good choice. Let us know how it goes. To boost it, you can take extra Lansoprazole - a double dose for example. If the meds are separate packs, you can also take extra bismuth which is pretty harmless in a double dose (but not harmless to Hp). There is some evidence that the bismuth helps overcome metronidazole resistance. We are checking this, but apparently it was noted in China. 8-) 8-)

Thank you so much for your reply.
You said you studied my case, but you did not tell me what you came up with.
Yes, the treatment I listed is good, but is it going to be effective in my case?
I told you that I took metronidazole while having H Pylori, does that make it resistant.

If the treatment listed above is a "good choice", what dosage do you recommend and how should I take it (timetable), and for how many days?
I don't want to make my H Pylori more resistant, and that's why I am so cautious.

Thanks for your patience.

i met Prof Marshall yesterday and quickly pull out your question for him to go through.

he was in a hurry, but he did mention
There is some evidence that the bismuth helps overcome metronidazole resistance.

you can take extra Lansoprazole - a double dose for example. If the meds are separate packs, you can also take extra bismuth which is pretty harmless in a double dose (but not harmless to Hp).
and i previously mentioned
PPI + Amox (1000mg tablet, 3 times a day) + Bismuth (2x 120mg tablet, 4 times a day) + Metronidazole (400mg tablet, 3 times a day)?

take at least 10 days up to 14 days.
please discuss the above with your local specialist who can physically examine you and help you through side effects.

Hello Helico_expert! How are you? I hope you are fine?
I'm writing this post to keep you updated. I completed my H-Pylori quadruple therapy yesterday.
In case anyone is interested, I took Metronidazole 500mg x 3, Tetracycline 500mg x 3, Bismuth Subciterate 120 x 2 x 4, and Lansoprazole 30mg x 2. I also took probiotics at bed time.
I am not taking any meds now except for the probiotics and B12.
My body tolerated the symptoms very well during the treatment period. I no longer have stomach pain. My bowl movement is good: no constipation no diarrhea. I no longer have bloating or belching.
But I still have some problems:
I have persistent semi-fever symptoms: dizziness, chronic fatigue, headache, muscle pain, and joints pain.
I also feel a crawling sensation on my scalp, and my left eye keeps twitching from time to time. my feet and hands are intolerant to cold weather.
I have been taking B12 supplements recently. I thought my symptoms could be related to it.
Do you have any suggestion regarding my situation now?
Should I follow a certain diet or take supplements?

Thank you so much,,,
You have been very supportive through my ordeal.

congratulation that you complted your quadruple therapy. did you get any side effects from the treatment? do you think that your probiotics help with your side effects?

what you experienced, dizziness, chronic fatigue, muscle pain and joints pain could be related to the antibiotics treatment. let's wait a few more days to let the antibiotics out of your system and see how you feel.
