A Swedish patient

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

A Swedish patient

Post by Leila dabbaghi »

A patient who has symptoms ,positive HP but not taken seriously by the doctors.

Above all, excuse me for my english.
I have had pain in the stomach in the next four years. Gastroscopy showed nothing abnormal,
however, no biopsies were taken.
My symptoms are nagging pain in stomach, discomfort, belching, sweating at night and heartburn. The symptoms became more over time and they are worst when the stomach is empty.
During september 2015 did stooltest which was positive in HP.

FIRST TREATMENT failed
(First line consisted of Amoxicillin 1000x2, Flagyl 400mg x2, Omeprazole 20x2 first 7 days . Amoxicilin 1000x2, Klacid 500x2, Omeprazole 20 x2 other 7 consecutive days).
After two months was stooltest still positive at HP.

SECOND TREATMENT failed
(Other line of treatment was begun with Esomeprazol 20x2, Metronidazole 500 mgx 2, Doxycycline 100x2 for 20 days).

Now after two months stooltest still positive. The problem is that i live in Sweden and no doctor I've met think that my stomach problems are not because HP. They do not take it seriously and i do not know how I'll go on. I asked my doctor who referred me to the GI for the cultivation of HP and resistance testing.I had conversations with GI, and he thought that many people are carriers of HP but have no symptoms. I tried to explain that my symptoms after each treatment with antibiotic reduced but coming back slowly after one month. The GI did not listen to me, but in any case he will take biopsy samples for culture and antibiotic susceptibility test.

I need some advice? What should i do if biopsy is not shown HP but the stool test is still positive and i still have symptoms?Which antibiotic treatment do you recommend as the third line
if biopsy is not shown HP ?

I will do the biopsy for culture of HP on March 3.

From what I've been told by my GI doctor in the USA, they should take a biopsy and do a culture for a specific strain after 2 failed treatments.

if stool test is positive, it is very unlikely that the biopsy is negative. Nevertheless, you do need some skill to grow H. pylori. If the laboratory is not equipped for H. pylori work, the chance of culturing H. pylori is greatly reduced.

Nevertheless, we should always be positive. Let's believe that your specialist will get the antibiotic sensitivity result. It will take at least 3 to 4 weeks to get the result. Because the H. pylori is very difficult and slow growing. Your next treatment will rely on that sensitivity report.

Tips: you can always use high dose amoxicillin and bismuth + one more antibiotic that your strain is sensitive to in your next treatment. H. pylori will never get resistance to Amox and Bismuth.

Hello Helico_expert!
Thanks for the reply, i really appreciate it!!!!!!!
I talked with my GI about cultivation and antibiotic susceptibility test ,
which he said they have no good routines for it and have not managed to cultivate it. So now i need some advise if i should try yours PARC treatment when it is not possible to culture bacteria for sensitivity assessment.
Thank you!!!

your doctor is right. not many laboratory has the skill to culture H. pylori. Nevertheless, you can try PARC without antibiotic susceptibility testing if there is a low resistance rate to Ciprofloxacin and Rifabutin. Your doctor may know the stats from your local scientific articles.

Buy the way i tested PARC treatment and during the treatment i did not have a stomach ache , but a week after I started burping again and have begun pain again in the stomach and very dry throat . I am sure that I still have the bacteria. I am so sad and dejected .The hardest is that I have a lot of pain in the stomach at night and wake up to it several times .I do not know what to do , I 've been thinking about removing the entire stomach.

Dear Leila, I have been through many years of digestive problems and I know that when my body feels like you described yours... my mind is weakened by my pain and I am exhausted half the time. When I started taking probiotics and my course of Matula Tea, my stomach felt a lot less bloated, less sword stabbing pains in my chest and way more at ease in less than a week. I've had h.phylori tests and my stomach had majority of your symptoms, since I started the herbal tea, followed a raw diet and drank quality water, I can actually function like a normal human being again.... unhappy digestive tract = unhappy human. Hope you feel better real soon!
