My H.pylori story since January 2014.

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

My H.pylori story since January 2014.

Post by Victor_714 »

One morning in January I woke up like if I had a nightmare. I was nervous, anxious, had irregular heartbeats, sweating, chest pain and gas. While I was having all of these symptoms, I decided to research the probable cause of this. It didn't help and made it worse and decided to go to the doctor. Im over weight and at the time I had hbp.I discuss my symptoms with my Doctor, he checks me and says that my throat looked sore. He concluded that i had gastritis. He injected me a kind of relaxant which made me feel better. He medicated me with Trinsica (Omeprazole/ Sodium bicarbonate) , Riopan ( Malgadrate/Simethicone) , and Melox ( Antiacid). After two months I decided to give him a third visit because i developed a new symptom, I was having problems breathing and could not sleep. Since the last two visits i have been mentioning him about these "panic attacks" and medicated me with with another thing that helps anxiety, sleep, and extended current treatment. I decided to not take the new medication since it was addictive and didn't need them as my sleep went great the next day.
(Note: This was at Mexico since I'm uninsured In the US. Doctor ordered a blood test for triglycerides, glucose, and cholesterol. The results came good, but triglycerides were 14mg above the desired 100mg standard )

Its the last week of April and my symptoms don't go away. I told my father that I needed something else, that this wasn't going away and that I was living a bothersome life with these symptoms. We found a clinic that suited our funds in the US and arranged an appointment. Nurse asks the reason of the visit and answered with the main problems: Chest pain, sting feeling on chest and bloatedness. She takes my blood pressure and again was high. Im now redirected with a doctor and orders an EKG which in my understanding came somewhat good because at the time I was "nervous"/ moved a lot which affected the results. She medicates me with 60 pills of Omeprazole and ordered a blood test for h. pylori. The test went positive with .1 (infestation?). The 60 Omeprazole treatment was suspended and substituted with Prevpac ( Omeprazole, Clarythomycin, and Amoxicillin)

Today I'm on my 6th day of the 2 week treatment with side effects: diarrhea and metallic taste. My questions are: Will this ever go away or is it chronic (bloatedness, stomach pain, and weakness)? Should i get checked something else? What is that .1 result. Is it serious?

I forgot to add that the feel of heartburn was minimal/ didn't notice it.

Forgot another detail:

I have this feeling dont know how to describe it so Im going to do my best. ( Recent)

On my chest, I have this feeling of something small is being detached. Picture two wet pages being detached. Feels viscous. Any idea if that is related with the infection or my treatment?

The diarrhea and metalic taste are common side effects of antibiotics. However, it is important that you finish the course or else, you'll give chance for the bacteria to develop resistance.

The bloatedness, stomach pain, and weakness that you are feeling, are common symptoms of H. pylori infection. Most people feels better after completing the treatment. Try to get yourself check again one month after completing your treatment to make sure H. pylori has been eradicated. You cannot do blood test for the confirmation. So, try ask for breath or stool test.

I finished my treatment last friday and yesterday I had some unusual fever along with irregular heartbeats and I'm still experiencing stomach pains and bloating. As of now Fever is minimal, feel bloated and weak with stomach pain. Im still taking Omeprazole. This started yesterday afternoon and went to sleep right away with just medication on my stomach.

My next appointment is on June to check chest X-rays. Should I be worried or suspend my medication?

Does this mean that i will take a second treatment?

side effects of the antibiotics should subside almost immediately after stopping treatment. Omeprazole is meant to reduce your stomach acid so IF you have stomach ulcer, you wont feel too much pain. It is recommended that you take Omeprazole for a month IF you are suspected for an ulcer.

It's too early to tell if you need second treatment. Let's wait for a month, slowly reduce your PPI, repeat the breath test and see if you are still positive. Then we can discuss what should be your next treatment.

So does this mean that people will still present symptoms from h. pylori after the treatment?

Im still having some fever and stiff neck. what pain reliever is safe to take on my situation?

the symptoms because of H. pylori will slowly reduced. according to members in this forum, it ranges from immediate recovery to years. It's very subjective. I myself, very lucky, recovered immediately after treatment. No more symptoms.

as for your fever, i cannot advise you more. paracetamol would be the best pain killer. just make sure you dont overdose yourself.

As a follow up of the situation when I was writing my latest post, I was having some bad pain on the chest which eventually led me to ER. Luckily, the blood/urine/xrays tests interpreted that palpitations and chest pain were due to a deficiency of Potassium in blood (Hypokalemia). Direct heart problems where ruled out.

Im worried now. Yesterday as I left the ER, I went directly to my home and slept 6 hrs. Woke up at 10:30 and took my omeprazole. At 11:00 pm i ate a banana for my hypokalemia and some water. And for the next hour everything was fine. At 12:00 midnight I have the same pain that got me into ER. My hands where cold and same with the house so i used a jacket and walked around the house to see if the pain disappears. During this process, i felt stings on my left side of my abdomen. After an hour of getting warm and some walking chest pain disappeared. Should I stop this if the Omeprazole caused my chest pain?

As of this post:

I was starting to feel my neck stiff, along with my jaw not opening all the way. My neck hasn't recovered at all neither my jaw.

Nerve damage?

EDIT: Ok maybe i was exaggerating. Both neck and jaw are recovering after 3 baby aspirins. Stopped the Omeprazole treatment and chest pain didn't occur.

your symptoms may not be helicobacter related. so experts here may not be able to help you much. Nevertheless, as a reminder, aspirin may give you stomach ulcer.

the chest pain, if it is stomach acid related, then yes, continue with PPI. if it's something else, have to seek advise from specialist.
