The International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) was launched to coordinate large-scale cancer genome studies in tumours from 50 different cancer types and/or subtypes that are of clinical and societal importance across the globe. Systematic studies of more than 25,000 cancer genomes at the genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic levels will reveal the repertoire of oncogenic mutations, uncover traces of the mutagenic influences, define clinically relevant subtypes for prognosis and therapeutic management, and enable the development of new cancer therapies.

Hopefully, this new tech can help us to understand how much Hp has involved in gastric cancer!

The focus of the laboratory will be on the bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori and its role in the induction of gastric malignancies. H. pylori is a highly successful bacterial pathogen that infects and is perfectly adapted to the human stomach. Despite a dramatic decline of infection rates in the developed world in the past 3-4 decades, it still colonizes roughly half of the world’s population.

this statement is half true. infection rate in developed world is less than 20%.

So let's have a look at the genomic data that ICGC has sequenced (http://www.icgc.org/icgc/cgp/69/509/70268). I guess it will tell us more exciting stories of gastric cancer....

I want to get my parents well water tested as soon as possible. I'm not really sure where to start or who to contact. Would someone from Penn State be interested or be able to test our well?

where is your parents' well? In United State? I think it's very difficult for the well water to be contaminated with H. pylori. Other organism maybe. But not H. pylori.

you can take the lansoprazole to control your gastric. then take the other two antibiotics plus lansoprazole when you come back after 3 weeks.
