well it depends. If you meant the urease antibody, i think it last a few weeks to a few months. If you meant the cagA antibody, it can generally last longer than 6 months or a year. It's depending on individual's immune system. Some papers even reported antibody detected after 2 years.

Dear Helico Expert,

As always, thank you very much for your generous gift of time, thoroughness, and kindness in your replies. I apologize for the delayed reply, work has been very hectic.

I am not a scientist, so I guess I was not 100% sure what antibody I was referring to. I am mainly referring to the blood test they do to find out if you have an H pylori infection. I have heard that the blood test is only good if you have never been treated for H pylori in the past because antibodies can stay in the blood for 10 years or longer. I was wanting to find out if that is true, the 10 years comment. And if they stay in the blood longer than 10 years, how long are they in the blood for? 20 years? 30 years? After what you sent it seems like 10 years might not be the truth. Your study talks about 2 years. 2 years is much different than 10 years. So, I am just trying to find out for sure. :D Any thoughts?

My deepest gratitude to you, always, for your efforts.

no worries. i think 2 - 3 years is about average. Anyway, you have taken treatment, you can always do breath or stool test to find out if you are still infected.
