How do you catch Hp? From your mother when she kisses you? From brothers and sisters as a small child? From sexual partners as adults (kissing)? From dirty water (fecal contamination)? From animals? Who knows???

Dirty Water / Fecal-Oral
You mostly catch H.p. as a child. In most studies it was found that children has the same strain as their mother. In developing countries transmission is common when hygeine is poor, or when water and food is contaminated with faeces. H.pylori likes moisture so toilet areas must be kept clean and dry.

Other Persons / Kissing Eating etc.
Perhaps some people can contract H.pylori by kissing or saliva transfer during feeding. Most children catch H.pylori from their mother rather than father. Probably H.pylori do not usually live in the mouth. This is still a controversial area.
