Re: Two courses of treatment and still in acute pain - normal?

Hi, My story is very very similar to yours... I also had 2 treatments for HP this year, I felt better for a few days after the treaments and then everything starts to go down hill again. Nothing seems to soothe the pain in my stomach, I've had pretty much all the medication available in the market a...

Hi, No one seems to know exactly how it's contracted. I think it might be contracted via contact with people infected or via food that has been in contact with the bacteria. Some people don't seem to get infected though, my partner never got it eventhough I've been fighting HP for about 2 years. Eve...

Hi, I'm not a doctor, my in my humble opnion, with you stop taking antibiotics midway they might be less effective next time you take them as you will build up a resistance, so you might end up needing different antibiotics. You should discuss the pros & cons of stopping any medication with your doc...

Re: First treatment didn't work...

Hi, People react differently to medication, I usually feel a lot worse while I am on antibiotics and gradually get better when I finish the course. Remember that compliance is very important when treating HP, so take your meds in regular intervals and try not miss any. I developed severe gastritis a...

Hi, Antibiotics are usually taken with a meal (during or after), they shouldn't be taken on a empty stomach. It's difficult to tell what foods you should avoid as everyone is different, but usually people tend to avoid spicy & acidic foods/drinks, such as coffee, orange juice, tomatos, onions, garli...

Re: antibiotic susceptibility testing

Hi, As far as I'm aware, there is no standard guidelines for HP susceptability testing, meaning each lab will follow their own measures and guidelines. So it's a bit difficult to say exactly how the tests will be conducted and the results will be measured. I would suggest you call the lab and ask th...

Re: diagnosis

I have been infected with Helicobacter Pylori and I can confirm that it can cause A LOT of pain. If I were you, I would definately get tested for it. You might not have it, your symptoms may be caused by another gastrointestinal problem but you won't know until you get tested. You can do a simple br...

As far as I am aware, there was only one study with essential oils against Helicobacter pylori using Citratus (lemongrass) and this was conducted in MICE. No similar studies have been carried out on humans.

Re: Prevpac without taking Previcid?

Hi Sharked. Peptobismol is sometimes used in conjuction with antibiotics to increase the chances of a sucessful HP eradication. It's also available as a generic drug called Bismuth subsalicylate. It's believed that Bismuth has antibacterial action. It creates a protective coat on your stomach to pro...
